What is a Bursa?

A bursa is a small, fluid-filled sac that cushions your joints and allows them to move smoothly. There are about 160 bursae in your body, and they are found in areas of high friction or pressure, such as the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and heel.

What is bursitis?

When a bursa gets irritated and inflamed, it is called bursitis. This can happen from using a joint too much or putting too much stress on a bursa. The pain from bursitis can be sudden or gradual.

What are the common type of bursitis we know?
