What is ligament?

Ligaments are strips of tissue that join bones, joints and organs and keep them stable. There are over 900 ligaments in the human body that join bones, joints and organs and keep them stable. A sprain is when a ligament is stretched too much or ripped.

 

What are the symptoms of a sprain or ligament tear?

When a ligament is injured, you may have these symptoms:

  • Discoloration.

  • Instability in the joint.

  • Inflammation.

  • Difficulty putting weight on the injured part.

  • Loss of strength in the joint
